The Tacoma Defiance's inaugural season in MLS NEXT Pro keeps going from strength to strength.
Tacoma have been in blazing form over the last 13 matches, picking up 34 out of 39 possible points and out scoring opponents 41 to 11 as they've surged to the top spot in the Western Conference.
"Defiance jumped to first place in the rankings after a statement win at home this weekend when they dismantled St Louis CITY2 in a 5-1 victory," wrote MLSNEXTPro.com's Ramon Chavez. "Marlon Vargas continues to add to his case for being the MLS NEXT Pro Player of the Month for July after netting his 12th goal of the season against CITY2 and his fifth for the month of July."
The Defiance return to action on Friday as they visit Earthquakes II (7:30 p.m. PT | MLSNEXTPro.com) at PayPal Park.
