NFL Insider poses surprising Tom Brady landing spot - Sports Illustrated

The 2022 season has been a frustrating campaign for the Buccaneers. Yes, the team qualified for the playoffs last weekend by earning the NFC South title with a win over the Carolina Panthers, but there have been plenty of broken tablets along the way.

There's no telling what star quarterback Tom Brady is going to do when the season does finally come to a close. With his contract set to expire, Brady will have the option to walk away from the game for a second consecutive offseason, re-sign with the Buccaneers, or make the leap to another franchise to pursue his eighth Super Bowl.

Earlier this week, a surprising landing spot was posed during NFL Network's Ian Rapoport appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. Presented a direct question on if Brady could join the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, Rapoport took a moment to frame his response.

"I would say they would be one of the possibilities," Rapoport said.

While it would be an intriguing scenario, there's still the option on the table that Brady retires. Rapoport isn't sure what the future Hall of Famer will do at this point but he's clearly got some gas left in the tank after completing 34/45 passes (75.6%) for 432 yards and three touchdowns against the Panthers. Brady snuck in a score at the goal line as well.

"That I don't know. He's gonna have to sit down and be like, he's had some not great games, then he's had games like last week where you're like 'oh my god that looks like Brady', or against the Saints," Rapoport said. "When he started quarterback sneaking against, I was like 'Brady must be feeling pretty good'', he had a good one last week. If he played again I wouldn't be surprised, if he retired I wouldn't be that surprised."

This isn't the first time that Brady has been linked to another franchise. The Miami Dolphins were punished a few months ago after it was found that the team had illicit conversations with Brady in 2019 and 2022.

However, he actually has a true connection to Las Vegas through head coach Josh McDaniels. The two worked together from 2001-08 and 2012-19 while both were with the New England Patriots. McDaniels began his time with the Patriots as a personnel assistant but was promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2004 and offensive coordinator in 2006. He was around for all six of Brady's Super Bowl Victories in New England and the 45-year-old won the MVP in 2007 and 2017 with McDaniels around.

Brady publicly supported McDaniels when he was hired by the Raiders last offseason. Plus, it's become clear that the franchise is looking to move on from Derek Carr and Jarrett Stidham probably isn't the long-term answer.

After both parties had their fair share of struggles this year, could they reunite to try and rekindle some magic in Sin City? Brady would be a stopgap option for a run at a championship while McDaniels searches for his signal-caller of the future.
