The Baltimore Ravens have multiple glaring holes that they still need to fill on their roster ahead of the 2023 season. The two biggest roster needs they currently have are at wide receiver and cornerback, but there could be other areas of the team that they make big changes at in the coming weeks and months.
When listing out candidates who could shopped before the 2023 NFL draft throughout the league, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports named Baltimore as a logical landing spot for Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook. Benjamin talked about Cook’s situation in Minnesota, saying he’s due $14 million each year over the next three seasons.
“At full speed, Cook is still one of the NFL’s best pure runners, fresh off a fourth straight 1,000-yard campaign. But he’s going on 28 with a history of nagging injuries, has racked up 1,500 career touches and is due at least $14M in each of the next three years. Minnesota hasn’t been shy about bidding fan favorites farewell to free up money this offseason. Cook’s departure would save the Vikings almost $8M via trade, allowing Alexander Mattison to headline the next backfield rotation.”
It’s unclear why the Ravens would make a move for Cook when they already have very limited cap space and other major needs to address. There’s no debating Cook’s talent, but with J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards currently in the team’s running back room, they should address other areas of their roster.
