For many skiers and snowboarders set to hit the slopes this season in Colorado, a highlight of the day is sitting down at a bar after many exhausting runs and slugging a beer. This activity is so popular, that an entire 'apres ski' culture has developed around it, with many mountain town watering holes specializing in delivering the perfect post-slopes experience.
In hopes of finding the 'best apres ski bar' in the country, USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice publication is polling the public. They've already narrowed it down to a 'top 20' and only one Colorado spot is on the list – currently ranked 16th based on votes that have already come in.
Ajax Tavern at the Little Nell is perhaps best known for its location at the base of Aspen Mountain, a key factor in the spot making the cut to be included in the 10Best vote. According to the publication, it's a great place for people watching and warming up after a chilly day of snowsports.
The spot currently has an admirable 4.1-star rating on Google Reviews, with a food menu that includes a wagyu burger, truffle fries, and several pasta options.
Does Ajax Tavern have enough fans around the country to climbing the rankings to make the top 10? Voting will take place until November 20 with the results announced on December 1. We'll have to wait and see.
