Michelin-Starred Al's Place Will Soon Become an Indian Dosa Spot - The San Francisco Standard

flickdoco.blogspot.com

The much-loved, Michelin-starred AL’s Place on Valencia Street is reopening as an Indian dosa restaurant.

Dosa Corner Indian Cuisine will open June 1, according to the eatery’s Yelp page. The new spot will serve alcohol as well as the thin pancakes that are a hallmark of South Indian cuisine.

Chef Aaron London closed down AL’s Place in 2022, after seven years in business. The Mission destination garnered a “best new restaurant in the country” nod from Bon Appetit the year it opened and went on to become a foodie hot spot.

Dosa Corner will join an expanding array of Indian cuisine in the Mission. Aaha Indian Cuisine opened in 2022 on 17th Street, and both Udupi Palace and Aditi on Valencia Street have been serving up dosas for years.

Other Indian restaurants in the neighborhood include Deccan House and Birani House, both on Valencia Street.

The assortment of options gives Mission residents a half-dozen plus options for Indian cuisine—and there’s also a nearby Indian grocery store on 22nd Street.
