FORT WORTH, Texas — The first-seeded Oklahoma women's team swept fifth-seeded Kansas 4-0 on Saturday, taking their second victory over the Jayhawks this season and advancing to the Big 12 Women's Tennis Championship match.
OU claimed the first doubles court at the No. 3 spot with a 6-4 victory from Dana Guzman and Anchisa Chanta over Julia Deming and Malkia Ngounoue. The Jayhawks secured the 7-5 win at the top court, with Sonia Smagina and Raphaelle defeating the No. 6 Corley Sisters.
The opening point came down to court two, where Layne Sleeth and Alexandra Pisareva grabbed the back-and-forth battle with their 7-6 (3) win to give OU the lead going into singles.
No. 10 Sleeth was the first Sooner to put up a singles win on the board, defeating Maria Titova 6-3, 6-2 at the top court. To extend the lead, freshman Emma Staker claimed court six over Tiffany Lagarde, 6-3, 6-2.
To clinch and send the Sooners to the championship match, Guzman defeated Carmen Roxana Manu at the No. 4 spot, with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.
When play was halted, No. 50 Carmen Corley was down 6-7 (3), 2-3 on court two against Malkia Ngounoue. Chanta, ranked No. 69, had a near-court win with her 7-5, 5-2 lead over Sonia Smagina. At the No. 5 spot, Pisareva was tied with Mariana Manyoma-Velasquez 6-3, 4-6 on court five.

The Sooner will meet No. 2-seeded Texas in tomorrow's championship match at 11 a.m. CT. This will mark the third meeting for the Sooners and Longhorns in the 2022 season. Live stats will be available and the match will broadcasted on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
