MANKATO, Minn. ---#14 Minnesota State is gearing up for a challenging weekend against Minot State and UMarry who are both within striking distance of overtake MSU in the Standings. Last weekend, MSU battled St. Cloud and Duluth going 1-0-1 on the weekend. Minnesota State opened the weekend at Huskie Stadium with a gritty 2-1 victory against the Huskies. Jenny Vetter had more heroics to add to her long resume scoring with five minutes remain to push the Mavericks over St. Cloud. In part-two of the weekend, MSU had no answers for UMD as they fell behind early. It wasn't until Brynn Desens put the team on her back in the 77th minute tying things up with her second goal on the weekend. The Mavericks head into this weekend with an overall record of 9-1-3 and 7-0-3 against NSIC opponents.

Facing MISU: Heading into the 14th matchup with MISU, the Mavericks are 9-1-3 in the last 13 matchups against the Beavers. Minot State is coming off a great 2021 season finishing fourth behind the Mavericks and repeating its success going 7-2-4 this season. MISU is only one conference point behind Minnesota State, making this week even more important for both teams. In the previous matchup, MSU jumped on the Beavers early scoring three goals in a span of three minutes. Caitlin BrownNadia Lowery, and Jenny Vetter caught the Beavers napping and all capitalized on their opportunities, beating the Beavers 3-0. Mackenzie Rath stopped all seven shots-on-goal earning the win and getting the shutout.

Scouting the Beavers: The MISU offense is led by senior Chloe Allan who leads the team in goals with four and points with eight. Allan, a United Kingdom native, has been an anchor for the productive Beaver offense as she also leads the team in shot at 32. In goal, senior Maddie Kindred has been the rock for Minot State this season starting every match. Kindred has accumulated 1,170 minutes this season while owning a .870 save percentage and a terrific 0.77 goals-against average for a 7-2-4 record.

Facing UMarry:
The Mavericks come into this weekend with a lifetime 13-1-3 in the last 17 matchups with the Marauders. UMarry is coming off a strong 2021 season and has built a respectable reputation among the NSIC going 8-5-2 in conference play this season. In the previous matchup, the Mavericks and Marauders went head-to-head in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament. Thanks to an own goal in the 56 minute, the Mavericks were able to advance. Mackenzie Rath was credited with the Win and Shutout after stopping all three shots-on-goal.

Scouting the Marauders: UMarry's offense is led by Sophomore Kendra Park who as four goals and 11 points thus far through 13 games. In goal, UMarry relies on senior Madisyn Waltman who through 13 games has accumulated 1,151 minutes on the season. Waltman owns a .862 save percentage and a 0.62 goals-against average for an 8-2-3 record this season.
