Greif continued his march through the consolation bracket, as he notched two wins to reach the finals. The first match came in the quarterfinals against No. 123 ranked Magnus Johnson from FGCU, who was dropped into consolation in the first round by freshman Togan Tokac. The senior downed Johnson in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 for his first ranked win of the season lining up the semifinals against Miami's Casper Christensen. Christensen jumped out to a 6-4 first set, yet Greif dug deep to claim the second frame, 7-5. The Newburgh, Ind. native rode the momentum into the match tiebreaker where Greif cruised past Christensen 10-5 to clinch his spot in the finals. Greif will take on Miami's Franco Aubone tomorrow at 9 a.m.
In Braswell's first match of the day, the freshman toppled the No. 114 ranked Andreja Petrovic from Florida State in straights, 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the semifinals. Another Seminole awaited Braswell, as No. 105 Antoine Cornut Chauvinc ended the Sarasota, Fla. native's run in the semifinals, 6-0, 6-3. Braswell concluded the ITA Southeast Regional with four wins, two of them coming against ranked opponents, and was the only freshman to advance past the round of 16 in the entire tournament.
The Gators pairing of Braswell and Greif faced off with FAU's duo of Nicolas Acevedo and Filip Krolo in the doubles semifinals. Braswell/Greif bowed out of the tournament in a 6-3, 7-6 (6) decision. Despite teaming up for the first time in competition, Braswell/Greif tallied three wins in their debut as doubles partners.
