MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State soccer team was back at the friendly confines of the Briner Sports Complex for the final time in the regular season as Buffalo made the trip to Muncie. Emily Roper and Delaney Caldwell led the Cardinal attack as each scored a goal as BSU and UB battled to a 2-2 draw.

With the draw, Ball State moves to 6-4-7 overall and 5-1-4 in MAC play, while Buffalo moves to 12-1-4 overall and 6-0-4 in conference action. The Cardinals became just the second team all season and the first team in the MAC to score two goals against the stout Bull defense. BSU secured a spot into the MAC Tournament.

"It feels redundant to say, but another tough game today," said Head Coach Josh Rife. "Looking at our schedule down the stretch, it's been a hard grind. The team continues to be resilient and finish games well. I think there are a lot of positives through this season, and I hope we go into the last game against Central with a high level of confidence and belief. There is still a lot to play for in the last match, so we need to show up prepared to battle and hopefully position ourselves well for the conference tournament."

Buffalo started the match strong and was able to get two corner kicks in the first nine minutes of the match. The Ball State back line was up for the challenge and prevented any shots.

The Cardinals first scoring chance came in the 17th minute off a corner kick. Lexy Smith took the corner kick and sent a beautiful ball into the box. Smith's corner went right towards the back post, where Roper was able to use her height advantage to head the ball into the back of the net. BSU took a 1-0 lead.

The Bulls recorded their first shot on goal in the 19th minute, but Bethany Moser was there to make the save.

Andrea Judasz tied the match in the 38th minute with a header off a cross from Jasmine Guerber to send the match to the break tied 1-1.

The Bulls gained their first lead of the match just four minutes into the second half as Guerber took a Leah Wengender pass and found the back of the net.

The Cardinals were unfazed and continued to battle and try to find the equalizer. In the 73rd minute, BSU saw its first two opportunities to tie the match. The first was on a shot by Caldwell that was saved by a Buffalo defender that recorded a team save. Seconds later, Maya Millis ripped a shot on goal, but the Bulls' keeper was able to make the save.

In the 78th minute, Abby Elgert sent a well-placed cross into the box in front of the Buffalo goal. Caldwell was on the receiving end of the cross and was able to chip it over the keeper's head and into the back of the net for the equalizer.

The Cardinals finished the match with all six of their shots being on target. Moser collected seven saves in the match and moved her season total to 66.

Ball State ends the regular season with a road trip to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, for a contest with Central Michigan. First touch is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27.
